Can I run 3 monitors on a Gigabyte G41M-Combo via its integrated GMA X4500 and another dual-head video card?

Most motherboards disable the integrated graphics card when a dedicated one is found. For those that don't, there an easy workaround: forcing the BIOS to use the integrated video card as primary will result in Windows recognizing both of them, thus enabling a multiple-display setup. I'd be interested in buying this mobo but i need to know for sure if i can run 3 monitors on it. I'd really appreciate if someone who ownes a GA-G41M-Combo could actually test this and post an answer. Thank you.|||Even if you can get the onboard and a separate video card to work simultaneously, it is a VERY clunky way to do things. The presence of two different sets of video card driver software are bound to cause conflicts, and you might see a lot of system instability.

The best, most seamless way to drive three monitors is to use ONE SINGLE VIDEO CARD that supports triple monitors. Just buy one of those. Any of the DisplayPort-equipped AT HD5000- or HD6000-series video cards can drive triple monitors, and your G41 motherboard can accept one of those cards.|||No...the minute you plug in a video card you lose the on board. CrossfireX has the ability to use the on board in conjunction with the video card but that board doesn't support it. forcing the bios to stay on the on-board graphics in anything i tried wouldn't let me use the video card and in the instances that it did wouldn't let me control the card.

Video card: PCI and Onboard = Dual monitors?

Ok, I have been doing a ton of research all night. I need some real help from someone professional. I have a radeon that I bought inside my pc which obviously replaced the display from my onboard. But, i really want to use my onboard along with my new video card for two displays. I went to my BIOS. It had the three options: 1. PCI - this is the one I installed 2. PCI - E.... that is PCI express. Also, the one I installed along with something different. Not sure what. 3. Is the onboard one. There is NO option to do both. So, the question is: Is there any hardware or anything I can do or get to give me the option to have two. And please don't give me the crap about buying a card with two VGA outputs. I don't want to spend the money right now. If there is another solution.. i want to use it. Please help me. Thanks!|||nope there is no other way. you will only develop conflicts within the system if you try using both onboard and video card.|||No, I don't think you can do that... it's an either/or sort of thing. I believe you would have a major conflict with the OS software trying to run two different video outputs from different output sources...|||Buy a VGA splitter with X number of outputs.|||You shouldnt need two video cards, Im running two on the same card, But since you dont have that option then you cant do it as far as i know. Maybe check google youtube places like that

Good Luck|||Hi

They way that you get two monitors working is buy two video cards the same (make sure they don't need a clip) and insert them into your computer as I had to do that to get two monitors on mine. I know it's a pain but that's how computers are now. If you were to get any just go to a computer swap meet and pick two up the same size for about $20.00 max it may be less and get them tested down there.

Alex|||I am unsure of onboards if the mobo actually shuts the circuit you have no way to use it, and only Linux I know can possibly do what you intended as an extended desktop using two separate drivers no crap on SLI or Crossfire;

I played on having an NV TNT2 AGP with ATI Mach64 PCI driving an extended Linux desktop across two monitors, even now Windows can only have one display driver active contrary to what Linux's GUI could do years ago, and hybrid Crossfire across buses does not yet exist.

Display port and VGA connector - Can I get Dual Monitors?

Lenovo ThinkCenter has a Display Port and a VGA connector. If I hook up a monitor to each of these, will I get 2 independent monitors? Or do I need to get a video card to do this? The specs say it can handle dual monitor but I don't know how to get a dual monitor set up with out a video card.|||Yup. Connect one monitor each to the DisplayPort and the VGA connector, and you should be able to run two monitors.

Beware that DisplayPort is NOT directly compatible with DVI or VGA-- To connect DisplayPort to DVI or VGA requires active signal conversion dongles, and those things are NOT cheap. Best way is to make sure you have at least one monitor equipped with DisplayPort.

Wondering if my motherboard supported dual independent display?

I can't find any information on it and I needed to know if my motherboard (Intel BOXDG35EC LGA 775 Intel G35 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with and integrated Intel GMA X3500 chip set) supported dual independent display before I went out and bought a separate video card.|||You can have dual display if that's what your after on most video cards.

Dual monitors in Vista stopped working - new video card not solving the problem.?

This began yesterday. I have an Acer 21" monitor (primary) and a Dell 17" monitor as a secondary monitor. For the past 6 months I have had dual monitors (extended desktop) but suddenly my Acer in front of me displayed NO SIGNAL so only the Dell monitor to the left was getting anything. My Acer is plugged into the DVI port of my PCIEX video card and the Dell is in the VGA port. I thought maybe the video card had gone bad so I got a replacement. I also did a clean installation of Vista. At first I was getting Vista to install and could view it on my Acer (primary) display only. Vista installed a VGA driver for the card. During this time I was not getting anyting on my Dell (secondary VGA port) monitor. So Vista went to install GeForce drivers for the video card. After a reboot, my Primary says NO SIGNAL and my Secondary is now the main display. When I went to try to setup the dual extended monitors through the GeForce control panel it "sees" the VGA monitor as the primary (not the way I want it) and my Acer as the secondary yet it will NOT allow me to "activate" my Acer...it is just a blank screen. If I were to roll the video card driver back to VGA, my Acer would work and be the primary but my Dell would go blank and that would pretty much end my extended dual monitor days. Interestingly, when I use Vista to try to extend the monitor it see's 3 monitors. I think it is seeing the video card on my motherboard, which should be disable since I put the PCIEX video card in. I wonder if something "glitched" in the BIOS that is causing the whole conflict but I can assure you that I went through the BIOS and saw nothing to enable or disable the on-board video card.|||I think the conflict is when you do dual monitors you should do them through your video card and do absolutely nothing with the old onboard video. Try hooking up through your video card only with your primary monitor then install the nvidia drivers after that connect the secondary monitor to the video card not the onboard video.|||bad or loose cord from computer to Monitor

Video card gurus, help! Dual monitors - max resolution?

I'm looking at building a dual-display setup with two widescreen 19" monitors, which have a native resolution of 1440x900. Does the maximum supported resolution of my video card (dual-head) need to simply exceed the monitor's native resolution, or double it?

If I really need 2x the desired resolution of each monitor, what cards are capable of this?

I the the Nvidia 7600GT states a maximum resolution of 2560x1600- that means two screens at 1280x800 but that's not high enough to even handle two regular 17" screens at 1280x1024, let alone dual widescreens...? Same with the ATI Radeon X1600XT.

Should I be looking at the Nvidia Quadro line? I noticed the FX1400 is discontinued- any idea what model has replaced it?

This is for business apps not gaming, so I'm not interested in super frame rates for 3D games- just sufficient resolution to drive a pair of 19" widescreen monitors. Ultimately I will have 4 monitors, so each card must drive 2 displays.

Thanks!|||hahaha, i dunno who lead you down the wrong path but not the way it works. just get a video card that supoorts dual monitors and your 1440 X 900 resolution.|||Hi. The native resolution of your monitors is the setting with the best sharpness. My card supports a higher resolution than my monitor but 1280x1024 is sharpest. Anything more or less wil not be as satisfactory, in my opinion. Hope this helps.

I have just installed a BFG Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT video card: PC running XP Pro and want dual display.?

How can I make this happen? I have tried everything, but the computer refuses to ID the second display; even though it is the EXACT same as the primary (ACER P191w), and the control center won't "find" it when searching. I have updated to the most recent driver, connected every combination of VGA-DVI known to man (note the card itself has two identical digital outputs) ending at the beginning with both plugged in with DVI to DVI. Am I missing something here?|||go into the nvidia control and enable the 2nd monitor.

i don't know how to get into the nvidia control try control panel (sorry i only used to Ati control)|||Plug both of them and restart the computer. It might not be recognizing it from the beginning.

However, you should try first using windows built in display properties to get it to recognize the monitor first.

Need to buy quality agp dual-monitor tv-in video card for Photoshop, MS Office. I do zero gaming. Advice?

I see a lot of recommendations for gaming cards...but I mainly use business productivity applications. I just want to get a new quality card for my needs, to hook into two Dell 19" LCD monitors for a dual display, and one to which I can connect a coaxial cable and watch/record cable tv shows if I'm so inclined. If the latter can't be done, that's okay. I mainly just want a quality display card that fits into my existing AGP slot, for dual display purposes. Thanks for your advice. If you'd like to recommend an online retailer that would likely have a great price, that would be awesome. Same with advice on the Dell 19" LCD monitors I want to purchase. I need to find out if those screens can be physically rotated to display vertically. Thanks in advance for your detailed feedback and advice.|||Check these out. Which video card should I buy for my situation?

I've got a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz chip and I want to put together a dual display setup. I've already got onboard video and I'm wondering which card to get to run the other monitor (assuming one of my monitors CAN be onboard video with a dual setup?). I have PCI slots open as well as AGP. I'm looking to spend between $50-$100, and I want to purchase it from Newegg. I'll be using it for Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and other various desktop publishing tools. The card will be hooked up to either a 17" LCD or a 19" CRT.|||It's possible to do a dual-display setup with your computer but there are some things you should know.

* AGP cards are exclusive so it definitely won't share with your on-board video.

* Some systems are designed to disable on-board video when another video card is inserted (PCI or AGP). It's hard to tell if your system will do that.

No problem though, you just need to buy a video card with two video outputs. I'm familiar with nvidia cards and I know for certain that dual-display is supported in the software so any nvidia card would work as long as two VGA outputs are present on the card. If you plan to connect to one CRT and one LCD with DVI connector, you can use this card then (see picture):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you are doing two CRTs, however, you'll need something like this where they include a DVI-to-VGA adaptor:

1 x PCI Express x1 slot

2 x PCI slots|||The system memory and the video memory do not have to be the same type. A GDDR5 video card will work in a system using DDR3 RAM. So will a DDR3 card, and a DDR2 card.

Pretty much any PCIe card will be compatible with your mobo. It's the power supply you need to worry about. Make sure your power supply can handle a GPU upgrade.

Modern cards usually come with some combination of DVI, HDMI, and VGA. You can use adapters to get dual DVI.

For a simple multi-monitor workspace setup, nearly any modern card will do. If you plan on increasing the dual-monitor setup to three or more in the future, you should get an AMD video card with Eyefinity. Eyefinity-enabled cards support up to, at least, 3 monitors, sometimes more.

For a gaming setup, it depends on your screen resolution. For a dual ~720p setup, you would want at least a Radeon HD 5850 / GTX 460 1GB for playability on decent settings. For a dual 1080p setup, you would need at least a Radeon HD 6970 / GTX 480/570. Higher settings will require more powerful cards.

When gaming in multi-monitor setups, graphics memory is very important. You will want to get the best memory in the largest capacity you can afford. 1GB should be the minimum. The more powerful cards regularly offer more memory than that.

One issue though. Gaming in dual-monitor is not usually recommended. Most games have very important things in the center, such as crosshairs, or message popups. Having an even number of monitors means that the center of your "screen" will be occupied by the plastic bezels of your monitors. Most multi-monitor gaming setups have 3 monitors for this reason.|||500W range PSU recommended. The Antec BP550 is good. So is the OCZ ModXStream 500 or 600. Also, the OCZ Fatal1ty 550. How do i connect two monitors? without using a dual video card?

so...i have an agp video card and an on-board vga port. what i want to

do is run 2 displays without having to get a new dual port vga card.

The first monitor will be your laptop's LCD. So, hook the monitor up to the video port in the back. Then right click on a blank part of the desktop, go to PROPERTIES. In the display properties dialog box that opens, go to the SETTINGS tab. There you will likely see a shaded box with two other boxes in it a 1 and a 2. Click on 2. Then go toward the bottom where it says "Extend my windows desktop to this monitor" and check the box. Then click OK. You should be able to do it if you have a decent video card|||i'm also a tech but for circuit city, the perk of having a card with dual/triple monitor output is so that you can expand your desktop to utilize more space, but if you just want to see the same image but on two different monitors i'm going to recommend going on ebay for like 5 bucks and getting a vga splicing dongle. Dual Monitor display & Video Cards?

I own a P4 1.7GHZ PC with a single AGP slot and 5 PCI slots. Currently the system has a video card in the AGP slots and a Voodoo 2 PCI videocard to give a total of 2 monitors for my Win 2K3 desktop. I've tried adding a 3 videocard into the mix (into another PCI slot) but winodws refuses to install it complaining about error code 10. I am unable to adjust IRQ settings for any of the cards.

Would a solution be to find a newer PCI video card circa 1999+ ? Or are there dirt cheap dual monitor AGP cards available instead?

Why is it so difficult to get a video card to display video files on the TV and Monitor at the same time?

I have had a few video cards since my old GEFORCE MX420 and not one of them can pull it off. I always used to watch a video with either VLC/WMP/Winamp/InterVideo and be able to minimize the video on my monitor and have it clone to my television allowing me to keep working on my monitor and still allow the video to play on my TV in full screen. It would also show both full screen at the same time as well as windowed on the monitor/full screen TV simultaneously. I have read that this is impossible, but, I can assure you that the little 64MB card did it every time flawlessly.

Any suggestions?

I do not want to extend my desktop, I want a perfect dual setup again!!!

Video card is an ATI Radeon 9550 256MB.|||9550 is pretty old. Maybe you should get something newer. And since you said that your MX420 could do it, why would you go to a more higher-end ATI? Perhaps you should try NVIDIA again?|||Odd, that VGA could easily be capable of doing advanced Tv-out (compare to that MX420) and should do it with an easy Tv-out cable. You must ensure that you have Hydravision (so it can detect is a DVI) and have a good cable that is connected to the Tv.

Make sure that you connected it accordingly.

Quite a pickle, ain't it.

Do this exactly and you will be hooked up in no time.

(If only the TV works you may have to switch the monitor from card to card or even temporarily remove the card attached to the TV to get the monitor lit up, but lets hope it doesn't come to that)

But first, once we get you to display properties, you MUST have the NVidia NView Desktop Manager in order to turn off Clone Mode. You can download it at the NVidia support site if it is not already installed and appearing in the control panel.

For Windows 2000 and higher versions only.

1. Disconnect the second "Main" monitor and power up using only the original.

2. After the beep or 3 seconds after the monitor lights up (whichever comes first), and start pressing the F8 key every 2 seconds. this will bring up the Windows Boot Options Menu. If you don't get it right away, restart and try again, sometimes it can be tricky to hit the F8 at the right time.

3. Select Safe Mode and hit ENTER to continue booting.

4. Windows will start with a message telling you about Safe Mode and it will not load the drivers for the other monitor. Once all the way in, go to your device manager and make sure the other monitor is not there, if it is delete it.

5. Go to display properties and remove the other monitor if present. The only monitor is now the Primary and will stay that way until you tell it otherwise.

6. Reboot using just the original monitor and once in Windows, verify that you have NView Desktop Manager installed. If it is not there, download and install it.

7. Now, while in Windows, and the NView is working, plug in the other monitor and configure NView to your favorite configuration.

We are done.

How can i set up dual monitors on my PC without two video inputs.?

I have been wanting to set up dual screens on my PC, but it doesn't have 2 video out puts, just one VGA output. Is there anything i can buy to make that i can get dual monitors without replacing the video card? Or is there something i can buy so that i can set them up? Would a VGA splitter work or would that just display the same image?|||VGA splitters can only display the same image. You will NEVER be able to drive two monitors independently using a VGA splitter.

Without replacing the graphics card, to drive two monitors independently using just one VGA port requires either an external USB video card or a Matrox DualHead2Go, neither of which is cheap and both suck badly in performance-- Slow and limited in resolution.

Your best option for driving two monitors remains upgrading the video card (assuming that your computer has a PCIExpress 16x slot to receive a better card).|||You can't split the VGA signal because I don't think you want identical output for both monitors. 3) i think i have a free pci AND a free pci-e slot. is the only difference between these performance and speed?

if any of these questions can be answered you will be my best friend and i will send you a cookie in the mail ( +Shipping and handling ) but if you can make a valid suggestion for a card i will bow down and call you my guru along with a $50,000,000 check in the mail ( check will bounce ) i don't need a bad a$* card. I'm not playing games or anything. the most strenuous thing i will be doing on it is spread sheets ( and of coarse the hog of a windows desktop )

Now, on to your "problem". To add to the above problems, you also have a Small Form Factor (SFF) computer. This will require a half-height or low - profile card to fit in the case.

So you need a dual port, low-profile, PCI video card that will run in a computer that only has a 225w power supply! These are very scarce and expensive. I found one at Tiger Direct: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/… Sparkle RP95GT1024D2LHP GeForce 9500 GT Video Card (Refurbished)

Dual Display Video Card?

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a new video card. The one I am looking at has the correct specs but is "dual display" . I only want to use it on a single monitor. How does this all work. I am new to this sort of stuff.

Thanks so much!|||The term "dual display" just means that it supports up to two monitors. Most mid to high end cards do these days. But it'll work just fine if you only have one monitor.|||you can have one monitor in use.. you don't need to have a second one connected|||I am thinking about doing a dual display, I believe you can run one monitor.

http://www.datpcstore.com/shop/video-car…|||it supports dual displays which means you can output to an additional display if you want to its not a "has to be dual display" option its just for people who want to use that option for say hooking up your media center pc to a tv output (which i do to display it on my projector screen at an amazing 109" display, but remember this most higher end gaming and video cards include the dual or multiple display option.

One of the reasons that computers are getting cheaper is because monitors are getting cheaper. The video hardware that drives them is also more affordable than ever before. Microsoft realized that when they released Windows 98 and built in support for multiple monitors. That support continued with 98SE, 2000 and ME. If you use NT, you're not out of luck, but this article won't help you. Your best alternative is to use a dual headed card, like the Matrox G450, one with two monitor outputs.

Getting dual monitors to work correctly seems to be a hit or miss affair. In many cases, it's just a matter adding a second video card and monitor and rebooting the computer. In other cases, you need to do some cyber gymnastics to get things working correctly.

The process is the same no matter which version of Windows you are using. First, be sure that your system is working correctly. Boot into safe mode and verify that you have only one video adapter and monitor showing in the Device Manager. If there are more, but you only have one adapter and monitor, you'll need to remove the extras.

Once you're sure that your video setup is working fine, turn off the system and look inside. Remember that you'll need a video card for each monitor that you plan to run under Windows. That means that your system must have a free expansion slot for each one. You may find that you have problems with IRQ sharing or DMA channels, depending on your motherboard and video card, although many video cards seem relatively intolerant of IRQ and DMA conflicts. Install your video card in the appropriate slot, and then connect the monitor.

Restart your system. If all goes well, your computer will boot the same way that it always has…the second monitor will still be dark. If your system prompts you to login, do it. You may need to install drivers for your second video card, depending upon whether or not Windows has built in drivers or not. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Should I go with a dual-monitor setup or a large format display?

I am a daytrader. Right now I am trading off of a 23" monitor which still isn't enough to display charts and allow me to surf the web at the same time. I am looking to purchase a new desktop solely for work. I am wondering if I should go with a dual 27" inch monitor setup (which if Im not mistaken will require me to upgrade video card) or a large format display (42" or bigger)

Also if you could recommend a brand, thanks

Which is the better option in terms of use and price?|||The benefit of dual monitors there would be positioning them differently, side by side, angled, one on top the other, you get the picture.|||Dual monitor 23'' it's easier to have more space and keep things separated. And the bigger the screen, the farther away you have to be so you don't strain your eyes, or to even see it. I had dual monitors for when I was playing a game that usually required me to use the wiki to follow it and play at the same time, works well, good luck!|||if you were comfortable with 23 inch, then two 27 inch monitors can be brilliant, dual monitor graphics card can be expensive or inexpensive (depending on the ram they have and resolution they support)

NVIDIA Quadro fx 1500 dual digital output video card?

Will not display video from Monitor 2 using Windows media player V.11.

My video card has an option that says "Show full screen on selected display" and this will allow me to see the video full screen, but I cannot drag other applications around on the screen. It renders the display useless. Just want to play a video in windows media player in my second monitor not my main monitor. Any ideas?|||Bummer. You might see if you can trade it for a video card that does what you want?

Pci dual head vga/dvi video card hooked to 2 lcd displays shows only black screens?

trouble shooting steps: Im working with an XP machine, the card is supposed to be compatible with this OS.I installed a new 450 watt power supply.I uninstalled the onboard video drivers, disabled the onboard chipset in device manager; installed new drivers with cd and tried to open nVidia desktop manager but it wont open in control panel and isnt showing in start menu.when I connect the monitors to the dual head card both screens just show black, no desktop or even dos screens. Please any suggestions are welcome. I need help.|||Remove the nVidia Card, restart the PC, go into BIOS and rest to factory default, turn off, start PC up and see if the display come on with onboard video, if yes, shut down, plug in nVidia Card and start up, dont do anything with the onboard video settings.

A question about dual monitor video card?

I have an nVidia GeForce FX 5200, and I haven't paid much attention to it. Recently, I noticed that it has a second port on it, a white one, which I found out can be used for dual displays. Does using the dual display thingy cut my video card power in half (it's 128Mb, so would each monitor have 64MB) or would it still stay the same?|||No. Your output does not have anything to do with the size of the memory on the card. The white connector is a DVI (Digital Video Interface) connector and the blue is a VGA (Video Graphics Array). Just a different way to view the graphics on our pc. You can use both for dual outputs, but you will need 2 monitors as well.|||It depends if it had shared memory, but no not really. You will still get the 128 on each display your card will just work twice as hard.

No display, video card fan not spinning and red light is on what do i do?

The monitor is blank when I turn on my computer, I'm pretty sure its my video card problem, my video card fan is not spinning, and there is a red light (not flashing), above it is "D1601 critical temp protect". I dont here any beeps are see other lights. It was working fine, but yesterday I decided to tidy up the cables in the case.

Everything else seems to be fine, motherboard has steady green light like always, processor fan working, case fans are working.

I recently built the computer, but I played a few games of command and conquer 3, when ever there was smoke, the ground and anything around would move, sort of like waves of water or smoke. When I went into the asus engine application to change settings and power use of the computer, the drop down menu would freeze (just the display not the program). The display problems occurred in the beginning.

I have tried switching the card to a different slot and switched power supply cables. The card is inserted properly and all cables are plugged in. Everything is compatible. Drivers are installed, most likely not the latest, but cant do anything now.

video card is Radeon HD 4830 512mb GDDR3 pci-e dual

mobo: asus p5q pro

psu: trio antec 550w

ram: ddr2 4gb 1066hmz

could I have damaged the card with static, or is it something else, what do I do?|||Make sure that you didn't disconnect any other cables when you were tidying up the wires. Sometimes all it takes is for the connector to just be part way off to get a bad connection. I would check all connections to the MB, Video card and all of your drives. Check the fan on the card and your CPU to make sure that they spin freely. If that doesn't work, then you probably have a problem with the power supply or the mother board. I hope this helps.

Dual Monitor Question... What video card would be the most beneficial in my instance?

Ok so I want to set up a dual monitor display in my room.... I have 19inch samsung lcd with the 24 pin dvi slot and standard vga and I just got a 22 inch acer lcd with the 24 pin dvi slot and standard vga. What would be the Ideal video card for this set up... I know my samsung has analog and digital and my acer does to I believe... so to get the best picture would I need to get a video card with 2 DVI imputs? What would be the difference if I got one with 2 VGA imputs (picture quality?)

Also is there anything else my video card should have to stay with modern times like HDMI imput or S Video imput basically now that you know my situation what type of video card would you get... monies no object but I don't really want to spend more then 100-150 on a vid card since I don't game to much on my comp.

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Kyle|||I've always had the best luck with ATI for dual displays..|||The splitter is fine, you want to change your display settings from clone to extend the desktop

How can I display iTunes or MediaPlayer video to my NTSC TV? I have a dual output card......?

My problem is software, I can plug in wires. I'm trying to do this for <$100. I don't have a new TV with HDMI, etc. And I don't want to use a digital media receiver Microsoft is promoting. I don't want to use a scan converter if I can help it - I think the video quality would be poor.

I have an nVidia card with NTSC and VGA output. But there's little mention on their website about how to setup the software with iTunes or mediaplayer.|||So you have an old TV, presumably only with RCA plugs? Then it cannot be done under those contraints. If your TV doesn't have HDMI or VGA, there is no "magic" cable that'll get it working for you. You'd have to get one of those converter boxes or get a new TV.

Dual Displays connected to dual head pci video card show black screens when connected to?

I put a new pci dual head vga/dvi video card with a dvi/vga adaptor on the dvi connector and connected 2 15 in dell LCD monitors to an XP machine. I also installed a 450 watt new power supply. The new video card shows in device manager. I installed the drivers from the disk but the monitors show only black screens on both sides when both monitors are connected. I also disabled the onboard chipset and removed those drivers but the only desktop display I can get to show up is with one LCD display connected to the onboard vga connector. At one point I could see the NVidia Desktop manager in the control panel and the start menu but now in the control panel I cant get it to open. Ive been working on this for a month slowly trying to weed out any conflicts or hardware/software issues but I keep hitting a wall with it. If my properties shows 1 cpu, do I simply need a dual video card to run dual monitors?

Wanting two monitors and when I go to 'display' and 'settings' it only shows one monitor, and from what I've read I need two in order to run duals. Do I just need to get a dual video card? Is that ALL I need? What about memory, if I'm only using it for general surfing or watching an occasional tv show? Thanks in advance!|||Laptops have this built in already do do it on a desktop you will need a second video card|||you will need a video card with dual outputs|||You just need a video card that has dual ports, or you could get 2 separate video cards.|||Yes, you can run two monitors with two video cards.

No, you dont need anything else.

The number of cpus really have nothing to do with this.

(P.S. A lot of video cards have TWO video out ports. Then, the one video card will run both monitors.)

Good luck!

Dual monitor display...video card dilemma!?

I am trying to set up my HP Compaq DC5000 (Windows 7 32bit) to have multiple displays via 2 VGA ports. The first VGA is built into the computer and the second is an added video card (VGA). Both of the ports work and both of the monitors work.

-When I boot without the second card, the built in vga works fine.

-When I boot with the second card in and the monitor connected to it, the display works fine.

-When I boot with the second card in and the monitor plugged into the stock one, it doesn't detect!

-When I boot with both of the monitors plugged in, only the added VGA display detects..as if the built in port doesn't even exist.

I tried software downloads, different monitors, etc.

Does my motherboard not support dual VGA? ;(

Thanks for any help!|||You cannont run Onboard Video card and a PCI or PCI-E video card at the same time. if you want to get double displays you need a double display ready video card with 2 vga ports or 2 hdmi ports on the back. but you cannot. plug 1 vga into the video card and the other VGA into the Motherboard ( Onboard Video card) cause it will not ready any of them and it will confuse the OS on witch one to pick and it wont turn anyone of them on.

My video card has 1 DVI and 1 VGA ports and I need to setup a dual monitor for my 2 LCDs, with DVI ports only.

Is that possible? Can I use the 1 DVI port on my card to have 2 monitors (extended display not cloned). How?|||no cause there are no dvi-splitters out there, but u can use a dvi to vga cable for one of the monitors|||Either get a different card.( dual DVI) ..or get a VGA monitor. if you go the monitor route..you may not like the how the monitor extends into the second screen.|||Cucusoft MPEG/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro (Converter + Embedded Burner) is easy to use and powerful for experts as well. It enables you to convert and burn any video file directly to VCD, DVD, SVCD, MPEG1 and MPEG2 format. Pro version included all the features of the lite version. In addition, it has embedded "DVD Author Express" and "DVD/VCD/SVCD Burner Engine". So it becomes an all-in-one VCD/SVCD/DVD Creator. And this program has been optimized for 64-bit CPU including Intel EM64T and AMD64. The video conversion speed is faster than most of our competitors. Now you can get this All-in-One video converter at a very competitive price!

You CANNOT buy just any video card-- Your computer cannot accept a PCIExpress 16x video card that is standard today (your machine has no PCIExpress).

You MUST stick with an older AGP card. This card should work with your machine, and since it draws very little power (does not require an additional molex power connector), it should work with your existing power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… It has two DVI-I jacks (will also work with VGA, using a DVI-I-to-VGA adapter) and supports dual monitors.

Hope this helps.

EDITED TO ADD:

Never, EVER buy computer parts from Best Buy. They mark up their prices WAY over what internet retailers like Newegg charges, and their advice are questionable at best.

The HD4650 AGP video card I linked to for you draws under 50 watts under full load-- It was one of the most power-efficient video cards of its generation. It will work just fine with the existing PSU in your Dell. And that card costs just $80 at Newegg.

As far as installation goes, most AGP computers will automatically disable the onboard when an AGP video card is inserted. If that doesn't happen, you will need to go into BIOS and change the graphics option to initiate the AGP graphics card first, rather than the onboard. Very easy to do. Then you boot into Windows and install the drivers CD that came with the video card.|||How could you possibly list all that info and somehow leave out your power supply? Anyways, since you do only have 1 port as you said on your video card, you will need a new one. As long as your power supply is around 400 watts at least you should be good to run dual monitors though. Best Buy was probably just trying to get you to buy their ****.|||it's funny that you ask if you need a new power supply but nowhere do

you list what power supply you already have.

but my guess is you don't need a new power supply and I wouldn't

put any more money into that old a system than I had too

Video card for dual monitors? Will nVidea GeForce GT 220 work?

I'm in the market for a new desktop and I want to set up a dual monitor setup. I will probably be using two 22 or 23 inch monitors, and I want to make sure I can use them to create an extended display, not just a cloned display on two screens. The pc will be running an Intel Core i7-920 with 6 GB tri-channel ram. I do not really do any gaming, but I watch a lot of video/multimedia/etc. Would an nVidia GeForce GT 220 (1024 MB) support this monitor config without any problems?|||yes but u might need a dvi to vga converter

Which video card will display the best graphics for WOW?

which video card will display the best graphics for WOW

*Galaxy GeForce 9600 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, DVI, HDTV, HDMI ($114.99)

*Sparkle GeForce 9600 GT Video Card - 1024MB GDDR2, PCI Express 2.0, DVI, HDTV ($89.99)

*EVGA GeForce 9800 GT Video Card - 1024MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, HDTV, VGA Support ($134.99)

all are pci-e on tigerdirect.com|||WoW is largely OpenGL dependent, and offloads a lot of the game functions on the processor, this is smart move because there are a lot more machines with powerful processors and crappy video than vice versa. Some OpenGL is executed on the GPU for WoW but not enough that a high end card will be required. Games like Crysis are hugely DirectX dependant which in most games is heavily dependent on the GPU. In short I wouldn't lose any sleep over the cheaper cards in your case. I however think you can get the 9800GTX+ for the same price as that 9800GT right now and I can tell you right now that extra almost 100Mhz core clock comes in handy.|||WOW barely has any system requirements to run at max settings. I would recommend a cheaper 512mb version of the 9 series. If you want it for other games then go with those models, but for just WOW you could buy a decent card for 50 bucks...

Also, stick with EVGA. They have great customer support and stable cards.|||*EVGA GeForce 9800 GT Video Card - 1024MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, HDTV, VGA Support ($134.99)

Does all video cards that has multi connections support dual display monitors?

When I say dual monitors I mean where I can toggle between the two different monitors (different displays at the same time) And if it has three connections does that mean its supports 3 different monitors? The one I'm looking at buying has a vga, hdmi, and dvi connectors|||Not all GPU's with multiple ports support more than one monitor connection.

The GPU's that support multiple displays, clearly indicate that option in the product description on the box

Can I run dual monitors on my PC with one video card that has VGA and DVI output?

I just bought a new monitor and I am trying to extend my desktop across them both. I currently have an ATI 9700 AGP gfx card and tried installing a second card (an old Voodoo3 PCI) and running each monitor on its own card. I am having trouble with that, so now I am just considering buying a new card (Leadtek WinFast A7600GT probably) in hopes that it will solve my problems.

I just want to make sure I can run the dual monitors off that new card if I do purchase it.

Or if anybody has any recommendations on making the cards that I have now work? Computer recognizes them both, sets the AGP ATI card as primary and works on one monitor. But whenever I go to settings in my display controls and try to enable the 2nd monitor on the voodoo3, my computer freezes and crashes.|||The 7600GT will have dual monitor support.

My guess is that the old drivers for the Vodoo 3 are causing the crash.

I didn't know anyone still had one of the Vodoo 3's. :)|||YES and it is wonderful!!!, the only problem is that you have to buy an adapter (DVI to VGA) for a monitor if it only has VGA.

Where can I find a half-height PCI video card, not PCI-express? I need to make an optiplex dual-display.?

The machine I'm working with is a thin optiplex. It has onboard video but then no agp or pci-express slot. PCI is the only option for an additional video card.

It's not really as easy to find as you'd think.

Yes, I've checked ebay.

Preferable under $50.|||You did not say how much Video RAM (8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB) you are looking for, so I've attached a few links for you. Your best search string is probably "low profile (or low-profile) PCI video card".

Good luck!|||yah it isnt all that easy, I would check with dell I think they offer some low rise video cards. I know I pulled out an ATI low rise card from one of our optiplexes.|||http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200145291553

Dual monitors on a video card?

I have two 19in lcd displays running off my x1950 ati card. Will this shorten the life span of my card?|||No, the card has probably had millions spent on it's development to be able to handle dual-output|||no

Can a dual video card setup (2 pci express cards) output a quad-monitor display?

i am considering a quad monitor display for real-time stock monitoring and trading....just wondering whether 2 non-workstation cards (ie. ati x1650 pro) can be used in sli for a quad display or do i need to get a workstation card such as the FireMV 2400???|||yes. I think you should be able to do this.|||I am not sure, but another option you might want to consider (knowing that workstation cards are expensive) is buying a very large monitor (i have a 27 inch) it is actually a TV, and you can get very high resolutions, enough to where you can have four screens on one monitor and be fine.

How do I run 3 monitors on a video card with 2 dvi-i dual link ports?

My new computer has an ATI Radeon 4850HD card with 2 heads. Each head is a DVI-I Dual Link. Can each had run 2 monitors then? And by 2 monitors, I mean 2 separate displays, not duplicated. I have 3 analog VGA monitors I want to use, hopefully without adding a video card.|||No. The HD4850's GPU chip is designed to support TWO Monitors only. You will NOT be able to drive three monitors independently with an HD4850, not without an external signal multiplexer box like a Matrox TripleHead2Go, which is completely obsolete considering that a triple-monitor capable video card like the Radeon HD5850 costs about the same!

ATI started offering triple-monitor support when its HD5000-series of GPUs came out late last year. The third monitor needs to have a DisplayPort jack though (not DVI, HDMI or VGA).

In your shoes, I'd just replace that HD4850 with an HD5850, and run a triple-monitor Eyefinity array with it.|||you can get a dvi to 2 vgs splitter from radio shack ...

yes each head can run two monitors separately...

this is the one u need ... and three dvi to vga converters.
